On the afternoon of July 5, 2024, a training course on “Building Software Development Processes according to CMMI-3 standards” was held at UNIT’s office. The program is part of the series of plans to develop and enhance the capacity of enterprises, belonging to the project to enhance the competitiveness of the private sector in Vietnam, sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Department of Enterprise Development (AED) – Ministry of Planning and Investment organized. UNIT is honored to be one of 35 enterprises to receive technical support to implement the training program for human resources, build a standard system according to the standards of CMMI certificate – level 3.
Under the leadership of the board of directors, the entire management team and employees of UNIT company put aside their work to focus on participating in the training course, to thoroughly understand the processes for software development, ensure strict confidentiality standards, and achieve superior quality in research and development activities. The training session was also broadcast live to all employees at the customer headquarters and the Hanoi branch. This event marks the maturity and improvement efforts of the UNIT team, adhering to current international standards.
In his opening speech at the training course, Mr. Le Hoang Son – Director of UNIT Company encouraged the team: “Established in 2010, from a start-up company, UNIT has experienced more than 14 years of development and innovation. In the process of maturing, UNIT has gradually affirmed its pioneering position in the field of Information Technology in the Vietnamese market, with many high-quality products. To maintain the team’s performance at a consistently high and professional level, UNIT needs to reach a higher level. The software development process according to CMMI-3 standards is the software level that UNIT is aiming for.”
Also at the training session, Mr. Doan Quoc Dung – Director of the “Supporting Pioneer Enterprises” program shared: “UNIT is highly appreciated by the organizers and is selected as one of 35 pioneer enterprises and receives technical support from the program. I believe that the software engineering team at UNIT can soon achieve CMMI-3 certification, to affirm the quality of the brand and develop more strongly in the market.”
In more than 3 hours of focused learning and comprehension, under the training and sharing of expert Thai Quang Hy, UNIT software engineers had lively, creative and frank discussions to improve the current process, in order to achieve high and consistent work efficiency, minimize errors, and aim for a professional and skilled team. The questions sent during the training session also partly reflect the thoughts and aspirations of UNIT members in their efforts to innovate the process. UNIT’s employees also confidently took the test immediately after the training session and all achieved good results!
The journey to build a CMMi-3 standard Software Development Process is still ongoing. The entire UNIT team is determined to successfully build a standard process to affirm the quality and class of the UNIT brand – a software solution provider owned by Vietnamese people, aiming for the international market!
CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) is considered a passport for information technology enterprises to participate in the global software service supply chain, helping businesses improve product quality through professionalizing the production process. To meet the changing needs of globalization, applying CMMI processes is a must for software companies. This certificate is valid on a global scale and has 5 levels – according to 5 criteria scales to assess the maturity of the process of each enterprise.
